Easter Sunday: The Stone Rolled, The Savior Risen, The Story Changed Forever
Before the sun rose, before the world even knew what had happened, everything had already changed.
Jesus was alive.
The cross was real.
The death was brutal.
But the resurrection?
It was unstoppable.
This wasn’t just a comeback story.
It was the conquering of death, the defeat of sin, and the beginning of new life for all who believe.
What Did Jesus Do on Easter Sunday?
He rose from the grave.
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” —Matthew 28:6
The women—Mary Magdalene and the other Mary—went to the tomb early that morning. But the stone was rolled away. The tomb was empty. An angel appeared with the announcement that would echo for eternity:
“He is risen!”
Not only that—Jesus appeared.
First to Mary Magdalene in the garden (John 20:11–18)
Then to the other women (Matthew 28:9–10)
Later to two disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–35)
And that evening, to His disciples behind locked doors (John 20:19–23)
He didn’t just rise.
He showed up.
He spoke peace.
He breathed the Holy Spirit.
He commissioned them for what was next.
What Was Jesus Thinking?
Easter was not just about resurrection—it was about reunion.
He came back for a relationship.
To remind His followers:
You are not alone.
I am who I said I am.
Now go and tell the world.
Jesus didn’t come out of the grave in triumph just to wave from a distance.
He came close. He called people by name.
He revealed Himself in personal, powerful ways.
Because Easter isn’t just theology—it’s intimacy.
How Did the Disciples Feel?
Can you imagine?
Just two days earlier, they were devastated.
Hiding. Hurting.
Full of fear and regret.
But now?
Amazed.
Hopeful.
Overwhelmed with joy.
And for Thomas, eventually, convinced. (John 20:24–29)
Their sorrow turned to dancing.
Their fear turned to fire.
And these once-terrified followers would soon turn the world upside down.
What Does This Mean for Us?
Easter Sunday means that death doesn’t win.
Sin no longer holds power over you.
Shame no longer gets the final word.
The grave is no longer the end of the story.
Resurrection changes everything.
Because He lives, you can live with purpose, peace, and power.
The question isn’t just “Did Jesus rise?”
The question is: “Have you?”
Have you risen out of doubt into faith?
Have you stepped out of shame into grace?
Have you walked from fear into freedom?
Final Thought
The tomb is empty.
The throne is occupied.
The King is alive.
He is risen! He is risen indeed.
Easter isn’t the end of the story.
It’s the beginning of yours.
