The Inspiring Mission of the Roetters in Indonesia
The Inspiring Mission of the Roetters in Indonesia
The Roetter family—Kyle, Kaiden, and James—have dedicated their lives to spreading the gospel and building a faith-based community in Bali, Indonesia. Their mission is deeply rooted in their passion for Jesus and His purpose, focusing on reaching the lost, training believers, and sending them out to make a difference.
Since returning to Bali in November 2024 after six months in the U.S., they have been hard at work re-establishing their ministry and continuing their impactful efforts.
Planting and Supporting House Churches
One of the Roetters’ primary efforts is working alongside local partners to plant and reproduce house churches. They currently oversee three thriving house churches and are preparing to launch a fourth, which will meet in their own home in the coming months.
These gatherings are already being led by local leaders, who are faithfully shepherding their congregations, which primarily consist of older college students, young adults, and an increasing number of young families.
Kyle plays a crucial role in mentoring and coaching these leaders, ensuring they are equipped to guide their communities with biblical teachings and strong leadership. Their approach emphasizes discipleship and creating sustainable, locally-led church movements that can continue growing independently.
Leading the Antioch Discipleship Training School
In addition to house church planting, the Roetters are committed to raising future leaders through a five-month intensive discipleship training program. The Antioch Discipleship School provides students with a deep understanding of Christian faith, doctrine, and practical ministry skills, preparing them to become evangelists and disciple-makers in their communities.
The training is conducted entirely in the local language and is designed specifically for Indonesian believers. Over the past four years, the school has trained more than 40 students, and they are preparing for their fifth round starting on June 1, 2025.
Their goal is to empower Indonesian Christians to spread the gospel in their predominantly Muslim nation, where they make up less than 10% of the population. The Roetters witness firsthand the impact of their work through weekly testimonies of people coming to faith, experiencing miraculous healing, and choosing to be baptized.
Adjusting to Life in Bali
Since their return to Bali, the Roetters have been settling back into their routine. Their son James, now a year and five months old, is growing quickly, bringing joy and energy into their lives. Kaiden has also embraced the transition, forming connections with other local mothers and their children.
Despite the rewarding nature of their work, the family faces challenges, including adjusting to life with a toddler in a foreign country, dealing with health struggles, and managing financial support. However, their faith remains strong, and they trust in God’s provision.
Kyle’s Theological Studies
Kyle recently felt led to pursue a Master of Divinity (MDiv) at Phoenix Seminary to deepen his theological knowledge and strengthen his leadership. Although only in his first semester, he has already found the coursework to be incredibly enriching and challenging, pushing him to grow spiritually and academically.
Prayer Requests and Support
As they move forward into the second quarter of the year, the Roetters have several prayer requests:
- For the Church: Wisdom in timing for launching their new house church and for the right people to step into leadership roles.
- For the Antioch Discipleship School: At least 15 students are to enroll for the upcoming session beginning June 1.
- For Their Family: Strength as they navigate life with a toddler in a foreign country, healing from recent health issues, continued financial provision, and success in Kyle’s seminary studies.
Conclusion
The Roetters’ unwavering dedication to their mission in Indonesia is a testament to their faith and commitment to spreading the love of Jesus. Through church planting, discipleship training, and mentoring local leaders, they are making a lasting impact in their community.
They are deeply grateful for the support from MPCC and their extended faith family, knowing that their journey is strengthened by the prayers and encouragement of those who believe in their mission. As they continue their work, they hold onto the words from Ephesians 1:17-18, seeking wisdom, revelation, and the hope to which they have been called.
