Equipping the Next Generation: IBC’s Ministry Immersion Trip to Cortez, Colorado

Each spring semester, the students of the Indigenous Bible College (IBC) step out of the classroom and into hands-on ministry as part of their annual Ministry Immersion Trip (MIT).

This year, the destination is Cortez, Colorado — a small town with a big opportunity for Kingdom impact.

The heart behind MIT is more than just travel; it’s about building unity among students, encouraging one another through service, and gaining real-world ministry experience. As the semester reaches its two-thirds mark, students are being sent out with prayer and purpose.

In Cortez, IBC students are partnering with the Christian Discipleship Center (CDC). This ministry is preparing to launch a new 9-month gap year discipleship program aimed at equipping young Native believers and leaders.

IBC students are rolling up their sleeves to help prepare the grounds — taking on painting and cleanup projects that will breathe new life into the space and ready it for this vital program.

But their work doesn’t stop there.

Students will also be leading two church services in the local area — one on Sunday and one on Wednesday — as well as serving at a second church with additional projects. These moments of worship and service are powerful opportunities for the students to pour into local congregations and grow in their own callings.

While two students were unable to join the trip due to family losses, the IBC community is lifting them in prayer during this difficult time.

As we celebrate the dedication of these students and staff, we invite you to join in prayer:

  • For unity, safety, and spiritual growth during the trip.

  • The CDC’s vision needs to be fully realized through faithful staff and resources.

  • For healing and comfort for the students grieving recent family deaths.

This trip isn’t just about what the students will do — it’s about who they are becoming. Through service, they are being shaped into servant leaders, equipped to disciple others and bring hope to their communities.

Let’s continue to support and pray for this powerful work God is doing through the Ministry Immersion Trip — and beyond.
